Name Your Five
Artist and title, in order, best first. Spelling does not have to be perfect. Anything on a Northern Soul floor counts, from a Wigan monster to the record nobody else plays.
How The Scoring Works

Points are added across every ballot. A record placed second by forty people beats a record placed first by twenty. Ties break on the number of first places, then on total votes.
Artist and title are matched after punctuation, "the", "and" and case are stripped out, so Frank Wilson and FRANK WILSON land on the same record. Anything the machine cannot match gets checked by hand before the result is published.
Poll FAQ
Does it have to be a Wigan record?
No. Northern Soul is a floor and a feeling, not a postcode. Detroit, Chicago, Philadelphia, a British pressing nobody has heard: if it works at four in the morning, vote for it.
What if I cannot remember the exact title?
Write what you have. Close is good enough. The matching handles spelling, and anything odd gets read by a person.
Can I change my vote?
Yes. Submit again with the same email and the new five replace the old ones. Without an email we cannot tell your ballots apart, so both count.
Do I have to give my email?
No. The five records are the only required part. An email lets you change your vote and puts you on the list for the result.
When does voting close?
The running order is live while voting is open. The closing date is announced to the mailing list and posted here.
